The House

Chez-Georges was part of an old mill complex in the 19th century, and served as a barn until 2001 when it was converted into a comfortable, well-appointed holiday home that features two foot thick stone walls, terracotta tile floors downstairs, and white marble tile up, under the massive cathedral ceiling.  It has been used as a rental property since 2007.

The well-equipped kitchen, overlooking the dining area, has nicely tiled counters, with wood cabinets, fridge, gas stove top, a convection/microwave oven, double sinks, and top quality cooking utensils and tableware.

The dining area off the kitchen is centered around a large farm table and wood-burning fireplace, and has an adjacent sitting area with French doors that open out onto the patio, with its own dining table.

The garden is a fenced, large (400+ sq. m.) croquet–size lawn area with its giant old walnut tree, adjacent to a small stream that borders the back of the garden.

The Master Suite takes in all of the second floor, with a large elegant living room featuring a cathedral ceiling and exposed beams, plus large floor to ceiling windows that are both shuttered, and canopied, all of this looking over the garden and surrounding countryside - and three steps above the living room is the master bedroom, and ensuite.

Chez Georges is perfect!! We travel a lot and yours is the best house in which we have ever stayed. We really had a very good time. The calm, the warmth, the views, the spaciousness, the comfort, everything... Our son was happy walking around the village by his own. And his sister also enjoyed it very much!   Thanks for being so nice!

We had a wonderful, unforgettable time in your house!

The house is first class, comfortable and superbly appointed and equipped. It has a nice big garden for relaxing and eating (sun and shade) and room for the kids to play too.  The owners were very friendly and welcoming and provided lots of useful advice on the area. Highly recommended!

The house is lovely. It is decorated in romantic and elegant feeling. The garden is very large. It gives you the feeling of being in the countryside, without restriction. It would be worth going if only to stay home all the time and walks in the small village with friendly people.

Generous accommodations and privacy, ultimate comfort, beautiful aspect in garden, easy to get to interesting local Villages/Markets/Restaurants and Carcassonne not far away. If your seeking elegance, comfort and a real break from the rigors of travel and city life, this is a must do in your journey through the south western part of France. Above all, we will return...

The cottage itself surpassed any vacation rental I have known, in its generous size and peaceful setting, beautiful stone walls and perfect French country furnishings. The small kitchen was stocked with plenty of staples. It was perfect for just relaxing and reading inside, warmed by the two fireplaces and the view of the 800-year-old church out the window. One could equally use Chez Georges as a very comfortable base camp for exploring the highlights of southern France and northern Spain.

Stay here in as comfortable a place as you could ever want and watch all around you the unchanging rhythms of life in the French countryside.  Without quite knowing how it happened, you will suddenly find yourself feeling what it must have been like, sometime in the l8th century, or any one of the centuries before that, to live here, far from cities and far from crowds.  Though it has every modern convenience you could want, there is something timeless about this place, something that once you have experienced it – walked past the ancient stone houses and into the rolling hills – will stay with you long after you have gone back to your normal, busy lives.  I was there for the first time this spring; I am going back in the fall.
Chez-Georges is a beautiful and comfortable house in a quiet village in a lovely area. We spent three weeks there and found much to do - visiting castles, walking among the sunflower fields, biking, touring to Carcassonne and other towns and villages. We also spent happy hours sitting in the lovely garden and playing croquet. The owners live nearby and are wonderfully friendly and helpful.

We can’t thank you sufficiently for our lovely vacances ici, at Chez-Georges ….This part of France is to love an cherish – Bien Venue indeed!!!  A charming and memorable holiday.  Merci, merci, merci
